This is a serious matter

I truly cannot emphasize enough how much I appreciate your support as I work to be elected to the Board of Education. As much as it truly means to me when I receive your emails, your facebook reactions, and your retweets of a policy agenda that matters to families like mine, that’s not enough to win this election. The harsh reality is that the only way to win is to convince people to come vote and to vote for me in a midterm primary. I need approximately 10,000 votes to win, and to be perfectly honest, that number is still a little overwhelming at this point in the race.

One plan for how to reach all those people is to send out a mailer briefly describing why I’m the best person for this job. We’re still finalizing the design, but if the t-shirt and yard sign are any indication, you can expect the postcard to be every bit as loud as I am. Here’s the problem, though: mailers are expensive, and we have to order them to print and mail next week or they won’t arrive before early voting starts. In total, we still need $8,564 to be able to make it happen. That’s a very big number, but it’s not unachievable. If everyone reading this gives just $20, we’ll be able to make it happen!

The other plan for reaching all those voters is to talk to them. This Saturday, we have the unique opportunity to participate in the 19th annual Black History Month parade and block party. Sign up for the BHM parade and block party at bit.ly/BHMM4DPS

We’ll also be canvassing this Sunday from 2:00–4:00pm. You can sign up to join us at bit.ly/D2D410

I know volunteering, especially by talking to people, can be really daunting, but I cannot win this election without money and volunteers and I know this is the community that will support me! You and families like yours are counting on me to bring progressive policy plans, but right now I am counting on you to help me get this seat!
